Joanna Barr - outdoor monuments....

Artlab's program for the conservation of outdoor sculpture and monuments continues to grow, creating a significant expansion in activities for Joanna Barr, Artlab's specialist sculpture conservator, which began with the treatment of the poet laureate of North Terrace, the famous Scotsman Robbie Burns.

The treatment of Robbie Burns was part of a major initiative undertaken by the Adelaide City Council to preserve the City's outstanding collection of public monuments.

Fred Francisco - Light's plan....

Artlab Australia was pleased to be engaged by the Migration Museum, Adelaide, a division of the History Trust of South Australia, to undertake the treatment of the Colonel William Lights' original hand drawn map C 1837 showing the layout of the city of Adelaide.

Fred Francisco, on behalf of a team of conservators who worked on this lengthy and at times problematic treatment, talks about the process more>>

Alice Cannon - Charles Dyce collection....

Artlab Australia was very pleased to be engaged by the NationalUniversity of Singapore Museums to undertake the treatment of the Charles Dyce collection. The collection consisted of 22 handwritten manuscript pages and 32 watercolours, written and painted by Charles Dyce (1816-1853), a Scotsman who worked and travelled in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia during the 1840s.

Treatment of the collection commenced at Artlab Australia in May of 2002 and was completed in January 2003. Alice Cannon (Conservator, Paper and Preventive Conservation) talks about the stages of the treatment process more>>
